Why did you decide to pursue a Masters degree/licensing in Christian Counseling?
God had been preparing me for most of my life to help His people understand and draw closer to Him. His timing and deep sense of calling brought me to the decision to pursue a Master’s Degree that would equip me and afford credibility to practice Christian Counseling.
Why did you select Above & Beyond Counseling Academy as your school?
I wanted a program that does not compromise the biblical perspective. I began pursuing my masters degree at another major university but did not feel comfortable with how the truth of God’s word seemed confined by the licensure requirements it is geared to fulfill. I had attended the “Released to Soar Deliverance Seminar” and referred many people from my church to Above and Beyond Counseling.
I knew this ministry’s professionalism in the areas of Counseling and Deliverance. I had the utmost confidence that the program would be a good fit for me and I loved the idea of aligning myself with Above and Beyond, a ministry for which I hold great respect.
What was your overall experience with the training?
It was a very practical experience especially since a core part of the program involves conducting real case studies while applying learning from the curriculum.
Which teachings or aspects of the program did you enjoy the most?
Again the practical application of case studies is vital as well as a course on codependency and family systems.
What have you done (or plan to do) with your degree/licensing?
I will be in private practice acceptance referrals from my church and others in my area as well as Above & Beyond Christian Counseling.
Any suggestions you would make to potential students who are considering this training?
Pray! Ask questions, but the main one you need to ask is Lord, is this for me? He will guide you from there. I did not know what I would do after finishing the program but I KNEW I was supposed to complete this program as God wanted to equip me further for my calling.
Other comments
My only other advice is if you commit to it, be intentional. Create a schedule for yourself and stick to it! Have a goal for when you would like to finish the program and get after it!
