Why did you decide to pursue a degree/licensing in Christian Counseling?
My original pursuit of the Masters degree which led to the PhD. was recognizing the gift God had waiting for me in counseling. For years people would ask my advice and even line up at my desk in the corporate world. God wrote the desire on my heart to counsel His word with wisdom and that was going to take some training to do it with excellence.
Why did you select Above & Beyond Counseling Academy as your school?
The NCCA program that Above & Beyond Counseling Academy provides is structured to launch you into your calling, not weed you out with academic hurdles. The format makes it easy to move at your own pace and excel. I did not have time for a classroom experience that would be drawn out over several years. I wanted to get this done as quickly and painlessly as possible.
What was your overall experience with the training?
The training gave me clear insight on how to counsel different temperament types. There is not a “one size fits all” approach in Christian counseling or with God. The PhD was one of the most rewarding endeavors with God I have taken.
Which teachings or aspects of the program did you enjoy the most?
Understanding how the dynamics of our temperament influences our relationships was fascinating and it offered great revelation.
What have you done (or plan to do) with your degree/licensing?
I am currently counseling with Above & Beyond and can attest that finishing the PhD Program has brought in a greater harvest. Credentials matter to people when they are seeking a counselor.
Any suggestions you would make to potential students who are considering this training?
Do it if God is calling you! This will be one of the most fulfilling journeys with God you can take.
